If there is one dish guaranteed to get your mouth watering and taste buds excited, it’s Butter Chicken! This classic Indian recipe has been passed down from generation to generation and made with tender chunks of chicken in a flavorful butter sauce, that’ll have you asking for seconds (and maybe even thirds).
Ingredients
- 400 g raw chicken
For the Marinade:
- 2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp Kasuri methi
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp ginger and garlic paste
- 1/2 cup curd
- 2 tsp mustard oil
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 2 tsp lemon juice
For gravy:
- 2 tsp oil
- 3-gram cloves
- 2 to taste butter cubes
- 1 tbsp cream
- 7 Cardamom
- 1 Cinnamon stick, sliced
- 1 tsp mace
- 1 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 4 Tomatoes, chopped
- Two butter cubes
- 1 tsp garlic
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp ginger
- 2 tsp honey
- 2 tsp cardamom powder
- 1 tsp Kasuri methi
- One green chilli
Method
For marination
The easiest way to make Butter Chicken is by following these three steps: 1) Add raw chicken pieces and salt in a mixing bowl. Then mix in red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste with lemon juice for tanginess before refrigerating for about 15-20 minutes 2) After marinating the ingredients according to the instructions above, step 3), Roast them on medium heat grill or oven until fully cooked through (about 30 min).

To make the best chicken curry, start by preparing your sauce. In this recipe, we use two cubes of butter and ginger garlic paste to form a rich tomato puree that’s then combined with red chilli powder for some added spice before adding in Kasuri methi (fermented fried leaves), honey cliffs & cream at the last minute stages—it does make all difference!
