Air frying is the new rage in cooking. This easy air fried chips technique uses less oil than traditional deep-frying, making it healthier and guaranteed to be crispy on demand!
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or sunflower oil
- 1 kg Potatoes (4-5 large size Potatoes)
Directions
The most important thing to remember when making these air fried chips is that they should be cut into batons. The thickness of your cuts will determine how long it takes for them to cook through, so make sure you measure out about the right size!
Be careful not to be too thin or thick- otherwise, these potatoes may break during the cooking process, and also, there could be some Squad left over after all this effort has gone into preparing one batch.
To rinse & pat dry – place new slices onto the tea towel.
In an air fryer, add the chips and oil. Toss them so they are evenly coated with a thin layer of fat before placing them on top for 30 minutes (or less if desired). Heat the air fryer to 200 C. Check your fries after this time has passed to see if they’re tender enough or need another 5-10 more seconds to achieve optimal results!
Pro Tips
This recipe was tested in a Tefal ActiFry Genius XL 2-in1 Air Fryer, which has two different sections: one with the bowl and paddle and an additional tray that can be added atop it. Timings may vary depending on your brand, but they should work out similarly, if not precisely like those listed here!

You can change the taste of your chips by adding flavoring at either end. For an extra garlic kick, try granules or powder along with paprika for spices that will last longer than most herbs and seasonings; grated Parmesan is best-added nearer itself because it’ll be marinating there while you eat!
